Who Am I and Why Should You Subscribe?
Hey there! Welcome to "Getting God – Insights for Life’s Journey.
My name is James Fannin, but my friends call me Jim. After six decades of walking with Christ, I've learned that the journey isn't always smooth, but it's always worth it.
We all have had and will continue life’s journey as long as God allows. Your journey brought you here today to meet with me through this blog for a few minutes. I am unsure “how” you ended up here today, but I am sure God brought you here for a reason.
So let me tell you how I got here, why I am writing “Getting God - Insights for Life’s Journey,” and, more importantly why you should “Subscribe.”
Where I Started
I grew up in a semi-active Christian home. I was saved through a revival at the age of twelve and baptized at sixteen. After a severe knee injury, I had three months of recovery; during that time, I thought God was calling me to the ministry.
That’s when I believe the real journey to writing this blog started. I went to Dallas Baptist University, where I studied Theology to become a minister. However, God had other plans for me.
The True Calling
Midway through, I found my true calling in encouraging and educating fellow Christians to experience the full peace, power, and faith God intends for us. To better prepare, I added Psychology as a second degree. The combination has proven valuable in all my vocations.
Preparation For Getting God
Over the years, I've worn many hats: Bible study leader, devotional writer, deacon, and occasional preacher. I've served in multiple churches, discovering a new facet of ministry each time. Sometimes, I've taught deep dives into Scripture. Other times, I've counseled pastors or led committees.
But my experience isn't limited to church walls. I've also had the challenges of balancing faith with a secular career in sales, management, and IT. I've even started a few businesses. Trust me, I understand the stress of juggling work, family, and spiritual life!
However, through this blend of sacred and secular, God has given me a unique perspective on applying Biblical knowledge, wisdom, and faith to real-world challenges. Indeed, life has thrown its share of curveballs.
Getting God is Born of Experience
However, these experiences have shaped my understanding of Scripture and its practical application in daily life. I have realized that God’s Word is not “just” a book of rules and ancient history but rather a book containing “Insights for Life’s Journey.”
It has both the words of life and the best suggestions for navigating a world corrupted by sin. Whether you're a young Christian facing a hostile work environment or a seasoned believer seeking deeper understanding, "Getting God - Insights for Life's Journey" is here to help you build a stronger foundation in scripture and encourage you when you need it.
Getting God is For You
Regardless of your spiritual maturity, getting God is an ongoing, daily process. The more you “Get God,” the more your life will be filled with greater joy, inner peace, love, and faithfulness in your “personal” relationship with God.
Together, we'll explore Scripture and the fundamentals of Christianity, which will help us recognize that His Insights for Life’s Journey can help us tackle tough questions and discover how to live with more joy, inner peace, love, and faithfulness.
